About the surf
 Marco's at Burgos surf resort is in a perfect position for the surf, and there are countless world class surf spots within paddling or walking distance. There are a range of different breaks some being for experts only, while others are suitable for anyone. There are also numerous spots in this area that can only be reached by boat and have rarely been surfed or photographed before.
when to come
The best time of year for surf in this area is Aug 15th - Dec 15th. Although December through til April is also a good time to come, as there is more consistent swell this time of year, and although usually onshore at Burgos, the long barrelling rights just round the tip of the island are usually working and are only a 10 minute drive and transport is always available to reach these spots.
If you are a beginner or a learning surfer, although on the smaller days during the season can be fun, April, May or the summer months through til August may be a good time to come, with better weather and small, fun surf.
what to bring
 Experienced surfers may be advised to bring 2 boards including a semi-gun, and the usual sunscreen, booties, and spare leg ropes. Travel sports insurance is also recommended. There are also surfboards available for beginning or casual surfers looking to buy or rent boards. Ding repairs can also be arranged for reasonable rates.
surf spots - north siargao island
Sigurado's : This long fun lefthander is situated right in front of Marco's at Burgos resort, and its name means "for sure" in Visaya (the local language) due to its easy long wall, although sometimes it can throw a nice tube. A perfect wave for intermediate surfers or surfers wanting to warm up.
Simba's : Simba's is a long sick barrelling lefthander situated just to the left of the resort. "Mag Simba" means going to church in Visaya, as the take off spot is right in front of the church in the nearest village, and the long hollow pits made me think of being in the church hence the name. For experienced surfers only.
Marco's : This wave is another lefthander that works well on a small swell, and can suck a chest high wave into a fun little barrell. Just to the right of the resort with an easy paddle out channel.
Apurado's : Apurado's is another super fast left hand barrell that breaks on the end of the reef of Marco's. The name means "in a rush or hurry" in Visaya, and speaks for itself, you have to be in a rush to make this tube! Very shallow and therefore for experts only.
Inner tubes : Inner tubes or "Inners" is a picture perfect barrelling A-frame, the righthander being the longer and more consistent, whereas the left is shorter and more hollow. Great fun for surfers of any ability, not too shallow with an easy paddle out channel. Just a 5 minute paddle/walk down the reef from Marco's at Burgos.
 Interiors : Just outside of inner tubes another usually empty righthander which starts to work well when the swell gets bigger.
Cloud 69 : You might have heard a rumour about this one in crowd9! A classic righthand barrel that wraps into the bay of burgos producing long tuberides. Its a 20 minute or so paddle for the brave from the resort, or a boat can be organised to reach this spot. Cloud 69 can also be seen clearly from the Marco's at Burgos resort.
Bagyo's : Just north of Simba's surf break there is a slightly more protected lefthand setup that is usually small unless the main breaks simba's etc are double overhead. This wave can be classic on a huge typhoon swell when its too big for most of the other spots, and barrels from start to finish in these conditions.
Footprints : The next reef up from Bagyo's is another freight train lefthand barrel, which picks up any swell available and barrells down the reef for a good few 100m. It's a good 30 min paddle out from the beach at this spot but a boat can be organised by Marco's at Burgos as long as there are 3 or more surfers in the boat.
Canto's : Situated on the southern end of the bay of Burgos, this pipeline esque A frame is another of the crown jewels of the north Siargao setup. The lefthanders can throw out long powerful tubes , whearas the right is slightly shorter but still barrells. A 10 minute stroll down the beach or short drive from the resort.
Grommies : A super fun playful lefthander that works on low tides at any size swell, just across the channel from Canto's.
Pacifico/Magnificos : A 15minute drive from Marco's at Burgos resort this long, consistent left is one of the other well known waves in north siargao. Classic on its day, and holds as big as the pacific can throw at it. Magnifico's the top section of the wave can be hollow and punchy when its small, or huge gaping pits when it gets 8ft+. There are also another couple of corkers in this area.
Monumentals : Situated just on the northern tip of Siargao island where the reef starts curving round to the west facing side of the island, this righthander has the potential to be monumental. Completely exposed to the north eastern deep water trench, picks up any swell available. It's a long way out, but Marco's at Burgos can arrange a surf trip as long as there are 3 or more surfers and depending on conditions.
Tangbo/Barbecue's : Just round the corner of the northern tip, a 10 minute drive from the resort, is a selection of righthanders that work well when the winds are easterly/ southerly and the swell is more northerly. The most obvious being a long rippable right hander. To the top of the beach is Barbecue's, in reference to how you get rolled around the reef if you wipe out here! A heavy inconsistent wave, but classic righthand barrells on the right swell direction here.
Rocky's : 5 minutes down the coast are another couple of good righthanders that are even more protected from east/north-east winds. Rocky's is a semi secret Siargao spot, round grinding barrells over a sharp reef. For experts only.
Secreto's : Some people don't even believe this wave gets good! But on a swell too big for Rocky's, Secreto's can be unreal. Probably one of the longest waves on the island with fast, tubing sections.
