iReport —

As you are reading this letter, I bet that you have seen/heard about what happened earlier in our country.

Tourists were hostages of a policeman here, Rolando Mendoza. After a few hours of the horrible crime, some of the victims were dead including the hostage-taker.

I wrote this letter not just to apologize but also to let everyone know that we Filipinos are not all like Mendoza. We are loving and good-hearted people.

For so many years, our country has been standing tall and surpassing every dilemma; be it small or big. Years ago (back when I wasn’t born yet), you have watched us fight for what we think is right. We fought for the democracy of our nation.. The EDSA revolution. But that’s just one out of many.

Second. We Filipinos have been serving other countries for our families and we treat you as our own as well. With all due respect, I thank you all for giving us the trust through the years. For helping us to become what we are now.

The Philippines is more than just a group of islands. We are a nation of strong and remarkable people. A country of beauty and love known to be hospitable and well-valued. I humbly apologize for what happened tonight. No one in this world would want something like that to happen for life should be valued.

I politely ask the attention of the world. Please do not judge and mistreat us just because of what happened tonight. I have been searching the net and found terrible things. Hong Kong advices to avoid travels here, China and HK bans Filipinos and that Philippines is the worst place to go.

I can’t blame you for what you have decided but I hope that you could understand. Our country is now in a sea of problems. And I know for sure that we helped you in a way or another. Let peace and understanding reign this time.

I know that this letter will just be trash but I wish that you would understand. On behalf of the Philippine population.. WE ARE SORRY.

As a song puts it…

And I believe that in my life I will see an end to hopelessness, giving-up and suffering. And we all stand together this one time then no one will get left behind. Stand up for life. STAND UP FOR LOVE

Sincerely yours,

Reigno Jose Dilao

REPOST:

"is is a note in response to the letter of the young man Reigno...

from an HK national...

HiReigno, I'm Ivy from hk. I got ur link thru a filipino friend onfacebook. I got what u mean, and we do accept ur apology as i work withlots of filipinos at work, and i know most of u guys are nice peoplewith gd hearts and lively and cheerful personality. But then why I'mwriting this, is because i want to tell u what our anger is. Precisely,it's not only abt the hostage man. As we all know, there're lots ofcrazy people all over the world including hk which we shouldn't judgeby nationality, as this is a kind of sickness maybe they dun know aswell. But Reigno, what we hk ppl angry abt is, how ur policeman handlethe case and as well how ur government handle the case. As we're adeveloped country, u know all of us are sitting in front of the tvyesterday for the whole day, to pray and to update with the newestsituation. What we see, is the unprofessional policeman holding miniguns in their hands, counterfering with the hostage guy with an M-16,and keep hiding and squatting beside the bus with NO PLAN at all. Can usee my point Reigno?? Can u see y we are angry?? The final end point,is the shooting. Who is actually the one who shoot the guy or is ourpeople killed by the hostage man or the policeman??? According to whatwe see, one of the cop he tried to use an axe to break into the window, dun u think there's a lady sitting at that seat?????? can u answer mehonestly??? do u think she knows it before the cop hit the window andshe can escape from it????? She's jus an ordinary woman, maybe same ageor little older than your mum, can u imagine this, how can she reactwhen an axe jus hit rite beside u?? AND IS THAT WHAT PROFESSIONAL COPSHOULD DO???? well, u dun need to answer me, everybody who has senseunderstand, unless anyone want to hide the fact but not facing it.

Mostimportantly, our government last nite called ur government, tried tounderstand the full picture and wanting for a clear explanation, but urgovernment jus simply ignore our call, do u know this?? Reigno, this isy we're angry. We're not pinpointing on one person who affect ur wholecountry, but pls, see the big picture, and know what it's goin on. Ihope now u understand our point of view. God bless us all.
