Dear everyone, I am pleased to announce that the group of Paul Allen (Microsoft Co-Founder) are planning to conduct a joint exploration of the Surigao Strait wrecks with our Battle of Surigao Strait Memorial Council. This is after a month of emails between Robert Kraft, head of Vulcan Exploration and myself arranging the details, and with the help of so many other people. With their two ships, megayact Octopus and RV Petrel, and with permissions from national agencies, we plan to visit the wrecks with their ROVs and maybe their submersible. The objective is historical research and preservation. This is great news for Surigao City as well. The Petrel, a high-tech research vessel, arrived in Surigao waters this morning, and will join the 73rd commemoration of the battle which starts today October 24 up to tomorrow, October 25, 2017. Thanks to everyone who made this possible. Years of work and we are here. Cheers! Daphne Ruiz Miranda
