??♂️? 25th Siargao Cloud 9 Surfing Cup ???♂️

A great start! Cloud 9 was pumping and barreling today for the first day of the competition! Unfortunately, during the first 10 heats surfed today (on a total of 16 for Round 1), many of our filipino competitors didn’t make it to Round 2 and are already out including the champions Philmar and Piso. On the other side, some of our surfers have unexpectedly delivered great performance! Here are the main highlights of the day:
-In Heat 2, after an extremely tight heat, both Philmar Alipayo ?? and Eduardo Alciso ??, two of the best filipino surfers, were eliminated. Philmar was only 0.06 points away from the qualification.
-In Heat 4, Carlito Nogalo ?? and Pj Alipayo ?? nailed it! They hold the two best performances and highest scores of the competition respectively with 15.40 and 15.35 total points. For now, Pj also holds the best wave of the competition with an impressive 9.25 points wave.
-In Heat 6, Kent Bren Solloso ?? dominated the Australians and Indonesian surfers, scoring the 1st place in his heat and the 4th best performance of the day with 14.25 points. He was already on fire for the national competition and confirms his reputation of being one of the best hope for the future of Philippine surfing.
-In Heat 8, the famous Neil Sanchez ?? from La Union, made it to Round 2 on a confortable 2nd position.
-In Heat 9, Skip McCullough ?? , the Reining Champion from last year, eliminated his opponents easily, heading for Round 2.
-On the last heat of the day, Heat 10, last week’s champion of the 21st Siargao National Surfing Cup, Piso Alcala ??, despite scoring the best wave of the heat, was eliminated from the competition, finishing 3rd, leaving the room for Jay-r Esquivel ?? to qualify.
